2027 General Elections: Lagos SSA Damilola Marshal Declares Bid for Assembly Seat

Damilola Marshal, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly. She announced her bid in an Instagram post on March 17, 2026, stating her intention to represent Surulere Constituency II.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with the Presidential and National Assembly polls on January 16, 2027, and the Governorship and State Assembly elections on February 6, 2027.

In her announcement, the legal practitioner expressed confidence in her ability to serve, describing herself as committed to leadership and results. She also pledged to represent the interests of young people in the constituency.

“I am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House,” she said.

Damilola noted that her over a decade-long legal career has equipped her with a strong understanding of governance, justice, and grassroots concerns. She added that her experience positions her to advocate effectively for issues that matter to her constituents.

The aspiring lawmaker aims to succeed Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently represents the constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Damilola Marshal holds a law degree from North America University, Houdegbe in Cotonou, Benin Republic. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2015 and later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.

She was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Tourism by Governor Sanwo-Olu in May 2024.
