Summary: Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will attend as Special Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony of the third edition of the National Para Games on April 3, 2026, in Abuja
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is set to attend the closing ceremony of the third edition of the National Para Games on April 3, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed her attendance in a statement, noting that she will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event, which will take place in the main bowl of the stadium.
The 2026 National Para Games, which began on March 26, has brought together para-athletes from across the country to compete in various sporting disciplines, including athletics, wheelchair basketball, para-powerlifting, and table tennis.
According to the NSC, the First Lady’s presence is expected to provide a fitting climax to what organisers have described as a highly successful and competitive tournament.
“Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has confirmed her presence to grace the closing ceremony of the 3rd edition of the National Para Games,” the commission stated.
The Games have continued to serve as a platform for discovering and nurturing talent for international competitions, including the Paralympics. Outstanding athletes are expected to be honoured at the closing ceremony, with medals and awards presented to top performers. Some of the athletes may also be selected to represent Nigeria in upcoming international para-sport competitions.
The event will feature cultural displays, award presentations, and goodwill messages from dignitaries, placing itself as a platform for inclusion, unity and excellence in sports.
