Nigerian food and lifestyle content creator Yemisi Sophie Odusanya, popularly known as Sisi Yemmie, has decried the country’s systemic cheating culture. This was disclosed in her post shared on X handle on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Sisi Yemmie is a prominent chef and lifestyle blogger. She is the founder of SisiYemmieTV, a channel where she shares Nigerian recipes, parenting tips, and lifestyle content. In January 2018, she was profiled by CNN Africa and listed among women who have struck social media gold. She is an award-winning blogger, author, and YouTuber based in Lagos.
In her post, the content food creator described Nigeria as “rotten from top to bottom,” citing encounters involving suspected fraud, overbilling, and under-delivery of services. The first incident occurred at a resort where a receptionist allegedly offered a secret discount on the condition that payment was made into a personal account instead of the company’s official account.
“I went to a resort today, and the receptionist was whispering to me that he would give me a discount if I paid it into another account instead of the company account,” Sisi Yemmie wrote.
In another incident, she narrated how she was cheated at a filling station after noticing that the fuel gauge dropped shortly after leaving the premises.
“I went to buy fuel, the bar went up, but immediately I drove out of the filling station, it dropped. So I think they have a way of pumping air,” the post reads.
Additionally, the life blogger allegedly accused a supermarket in Victoria Island of scanning an item twice during checkout, resulting in an extra charge of N8,000.
“I got to the car and studied my receipt, came back down for a refund of N8k with apologies! I only bought 3 items from this place,” she lamented.
The post has generated reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences and expressing concerns over growing distrust in customer service and business ethics across the country.
