Nigerian Content Creator Monique Pearls Passes Away at 30

Popular TikTok content creator Monique Pearls has died at the age of 30, throwing many of her followers into mourning. Monique Pearls, whose real name was Monica Okafor Owuunaka, was an Abuja-based creator from Cross River State. She was widely known for sharing emotional and relatable content focused on motherhood, caregiving, and family life.

Through her videos, Monique built a strong audience on TikTok by documenting everyday parenting experiences and modern Nigerian family relationships. A major part of her content featured a young girl identified as Precious, whom her family reportedly brought from the village. Her death was confirmed by her family in a statement shared on her official Instagram page in May 2026.

“It is with deep pain and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister, and friend, Monica Oma Owunaka.

“Monica was a beautiful soul whose love, kindness, strength, and presence touched so many lives. She brought warmth, joy, and light to everyone around her, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

“Words cannot fully express the depth of this loss or the pain of saying goodbye so suddenly. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she shared and the impact she made will never be forgotten.”

The family has yet to disclose the cause of her death.
