The 25th edition of the BET Awards took place on June 9, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Comedian Kevin Hart hosted the ceremony. 

Ayra Starr led the Nigerian contingent at the 2025 BET Awards with three nominations, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best International Act. Despite not winning the first two categories, her Best International Act win solidifies her position as a global music sensation.

This win is a significant milestone in Ayra Starr’s career, following her steady rise in global prominence since her first BET nomination in 2022. Her past nominations include Best New International Act (2022), Best International Act (2023), BET Her Award (2024 for Commas), and three nominations in 2025.
