Former Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial primary election for Anambra North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections. The result was officially announced on Monday, May 25, 2026, in Onitsha North LGA, Anambra State.

Stella is a prominent Nigerian politician and entrepreneur who once served as Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation from July 2011 to February 2014. She represented the Anambra North Senatorial District in the Senate from 2015 to 2023.

Although the primary election was conducted on May 23, there was a delay and tension due to allegations of results tampering and inflated vote counts in Anambra East LGA. The ex-senator polled 22,076 votes across the seven local government areas that make up the district,  significantly defeating her closest rival, Primus Odili.

In the APGA’s official statement released on Monday, the National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, confirmed the victory of Stella, saying the election results were accurate with no alterations. He added that the election was peaceful across all 99 wards in Anambra North Senatorial District.

“While concerns have been raised about some ward outcomes, no results were changed, altered or swapped at any stage. All results remain as submitted and collated by the duly appointed collation officers for the seven LGAs,” the statement reads.

“We congratulate the winner of the primary election, Senator Stella Oduah, and commend all aspirants for their participation,” it added.
