According to an updated lawsuit, Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs are being charged for rape of a 13-year-old girl at a VMA afterparty.
American rapper and record executive Shawn Corey Carter, popularly known as Jay-Z, has been indicted in a lawsuit for rape of a 13-year-old girl at a party in 2000 alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs. Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z are rappers, record moguls and old pals whose friendship dates back to the ’90s.
According to an updated lawsuit filed in federal court on Sunday, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z reportedly raped the girl at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in September 2000 in New York. The survivor, known as “Jane Doe,” claims she was drugged and raped when she was invited to the party by a limousine driver following the VMA award.
Originally filed in October 2024, the lawsuit named only Sean “Diddy” Combs, but a recent update identified Jay-Z as “Celebrity A,” claiming he assaulted the 13-year-old while Combs and another celebrity, referred to as “Celebrity B,” watched.
The survivor reported that after being given a drink that made her feel “woozy,” she went to a room to lie down, where she was raped by Jay-Z. After the assault, the survivor reportedly showed distress but was ignored by those at the party, eventually calling her father from a gas station. The lawsuit further states Jay-Z’s involvement in numerous similar incidents and of attempting to intimidate the survivor’s legal team through harassment and bullying. The suit calls for both to face justice.
As of December 9, Jay-Z alleged that the lawsuit was a “blackmail attempt” in a statement released through his record label, Roc Nation. Meanwhile, Sean “Diddy,” who has denied claims of sexual assault in the past, is currently incarcerated on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
