Kemi Badenoch slammed Labour’s immigration proposal and called for stricter policies. She advocated adopting the Conservatives' Deportation Bill to address the immigration crisis.
UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has criticised Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour-led government, calling for stronger immigration policies and adopting the Conservatives’ proposed Deportation Bill.
On May 12, 2025, Kemi Badenoch expressed frustration over Labour’s proposed immigration reforms, which she claimed fall far short of the necessary changes.
“I think Labour is taking us for fools,” she said, adding that the proposed reforms were nowhere near the scale of the change needed. She also accused Labour of supporting policies they are simultaneously voting against, including proposals to cap immigration and implement stricter laws.
Kemi Badenoch emphasised the need for “systemic change,” referencing measures like repealing the Human Rights Act and extending the path to citizenship. She criticised Labour for watering down key aspects of immigration reform, such as reducing the wait time for British citizenship from 15 years to 10 years.
In a follow-up post on X, Kemi reiterated her stance, criticising Labour for blocking significant immigration reforms and presenting vague promises without a clear plan.
“Our Deportation Bill is tougher and ready to deliver,” she wrote. “They should stop taking the public for fools and back it.”
Kemi Badenoch made a stern call for Labour to adopt the bill, emphasising, “Our country is a home, not a hotel. If we don’t defend it, no one else will.
