A Lagos-based spa owner, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, has said that her former boyfriend, Owolabi Daniel, threatened to kill her before one of her staff members was attacked with acid in the Lakowe area of Lagos State. According to Olorunmaye, she ended the relationship months earlier and later began receiving threatening messages from different phone numbers.
In a YouTube video released by PUNCH, she tearfully recounted that the situation escalated after a home service request booked through her spa led one of her staff members, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, to a location where she was attacked with a substance later confirmed to be acid. She sustained severe injuries to her head, including her chest and hands.
Olorunmaye said in the video that she met Daniel earlier in 2025 when he booked a massage at her spa, and they briefly dated for a few months. She explained that the relationship had issues, and she eventually ended it and asked for space, but he kept contacting her. After she cut things off, she started receiving threatening messages from unknown numbers. She also noticed strange home service bookings made before the attack, which raised her suspicions.
Olorunseunfunmi went for a booked home massage session on October 25, 2025, at Lakowe Golf Gate, near Utmost Care Hospital, Lakowe, Lagos State. Upon getting down from her vehicle, she was approached by a man called Ziaulihak Zakari, who poured a corrosive substance suspected to be acid on her. She was initially undergoing treatment at a medical facility in Lekki before being transferred to another hospital in Ikeja for specialist care.
The perpetrator, Ziaulihak Zakari, recently confessed to receiving N500,000 to carry out the attack, although investigations later revealed that Olorunseunfunmi was not the intended target. In his video confession, he admitted to carrying out the attack after being recruited by Daniel through a security guard. The substance was procured by them while he carried out the attack after a second attempt, since the initial one failed because he was scared.
Ziaulihak and Daniel have since been arraigned before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, threat to life and causing bodily harm.
