Naija Feminists Media (NFM) has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2026 Global Activists Network (GAN) Impact Fund. The grant will support NFM’s ongoing work in advancing girls’ and women’s rights in Nigeria, with a specific focus on empowering girls in Abuja to become advocates against child marriage.

The Global Activists Network (GAN) Impact Fund supports grassroots changemakers working on innovative, community-driven projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme focuses on critical global issues, including education, health, gender equality, climate action, and poverty reduction.

NFM is renowned for its feminist storytelling, investigative reporting, and community-driven advocacy that highlights issues such as gender-based violence, menstrual health, education inequality, and broader social justice gaps affecting women and girls across Nigeria. The platform also convenes Twitter (X) Spaces and digital conversations focused on women-centred issues, including health, politics, media representation, and technology, creating safe and engaging spaces for dialogue, learning, and advocacy.

The organisation has also recorded key community impacts, including training over 30 girls in Lagos State on menstrual health education, providing dignity kits, and offering life skills training in commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 in collaboration with the grassroots civil society organisations.

Speaking on the development, NFM’s founding director, Simbiat Bakare, described the support as an opportunity to deepen the impact of existing advocacy efforts and expand opportunities for girls to speak out against harmful practices affecting their lives and futures.

“We are grateful to the Global Activists Network for their support and for believing in the work of Naija Feminists Media,” Simbiat said. “Through the support of the Global Activists Network, we will be able to train at least 50 girls as youth ambassadors against child marriage. This project will equip girls with knowledge about their rights, help them recognise predators and provide information on how and where to report cases of abuse and child marriage.

With this support, NFM will expand its advocacy programmes, amplify girls’ voices in Abuja, and continue advancing gender justice initiatives across Nigeria through media, education and community engagement.
