  1. Aisha Yesufu, Simi, Others, Condemn Ibom Air’s Stripping of Passenger, Nigeria’s Selective Justice

Nigerians, including activist Aisha Yesufu, singer Simi, and BBN star Alex Unusual, have condemned Ibom Air for forcibly dragging passenger Comfort Emmanson from a flight, tearing her clothes and exposing her breasts in a viral video. Civil society groups have demanded accountability from Ibom Air and condemned selective justice in Nigeria.

Comfort Emmanson has been released from prison, and the travel ban placed on her locally and internationally has been lifted. The SSA to the Delta State Aid has also offered her a N500,000 monthly job and an all-expenses-paid invitation to a media event.

  1. #JusticeforRaye: Nigerians Protest Against Raye’s Withheld NYSC Certificate in Abuja

In response to the unjust denial of Corper Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, discharge certificate by the National Youth Service Corps, a staged protest took place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the NYSC Directorate Headquarters, Wuse, Abuja, to demand the release of the certificate. Also, an online protest demanding #JusticeforRaye# went viral.

  1. “We Are Beautifully and Wonderfully Made” — Elizabeth Bolarinwa Inspires Women with Albinism

Elizabeth Olasunbo Bolarinwa is an accountant, entrepreneur, and passionate disability rights advocate. She is competing in Nigeria’s first Albinism Beauty Pageant to inspire young women with albinism. Her mission is to inspire and strengthen persons with disabilities, especially young people. 

She wants people to know that Persons with Albinism are beautifully made. She also dispelled the myth that people with albinism don’t eat salt.

  1. ‎Phyna’s Sister, ‎Ruth Otabor Loses Leg in Dangote Truck Accident

‎Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Ijeoma “Phyna” Otabor, has lost her left leg after being hit by a truck reportedly linked to the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck crushed Ruth’s left leg, which was later amputated at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. Her right leg also remains at risk. Dangote Group confirmed the truck’s involvement and pledged full medical support and compensation for Ruth.

  1. D’Tigress Clinches Top 10 Position in FBA Women’s World Rankings

D’Tigress has clinched 8th place in the latest FIBA women’s world rankings, a testament to its talent and growing influence in the sports world. 

According to the ranking released on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the team jumped three places from 11th to 8th position, amassing 640.1 ranking points. This feat came after the team engraved its name in African basketball history by winning its fifth consecutive AfroBasketball crown.
