  1. Dr. Olugbemisola Odusote Becomes First Female DG of Nigerian Law School

Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote, the current Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the next Director-General of the Nigerian Law School. Her appointment will take effect from January 10, 2026, serving a four-year term. 

According to the official statement issued by Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy on Tuesday, January 6, 2025, Dr. Titilayo will be the first woman to lead the Nigerian law institution since its establishment in 1962. She will oversee the institution’s academic leadership, administrative management, and serve as the liaison between the school, Body of Benchers, Council of Legal Education, and the Nigerian Bar Association.

  1. “He Physically and Emotionally Abused My Sister for Years” — Family Accuses Dr Ifeanyi Obi

The family of Nzube Grace Obi has accused her husband, Dr Ifeanyi Obi, of subjecting her to years of physical and emotional abuse in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, culminating in her death in Derby on Jan 3, 2026. The family has reported the case to the police and is demanding a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death and actions taken by her husband in the days leading up to it.

  1. Toyin Abraham’s Oversabi Aunty Crosses N700m, Enters Nollywood’s Top Four Box Office Films

The Nollywood film Oversabi Aunty, produced and directed by actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham, has emerged as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa after crossing the N700 million mark at the box office.

The film achieved the milestone within 18 days of its cinema release, grossing N711.5 million, according to figures released on January 5, 2026 by its official distributor, FilmOne Entertainment.
