For 24 months, Naija Feminists Media sits at the intersection of journalism and women’s rights, with the aim to amplify their voices and advocate for social justice. In a country where violence against women is recorded as unfortunate accidents, we take notes and report them for what they truly are: femicide, misogyny, and gender-based violence. As Naija Feminists Media marks two years of feminist reporting, we learned something: Nigerians are listening, reading, sharing, and having conversations because of these stories.
This anniversary is not just a celebration. It’s a promise to keep documenting the misogyny, to keep counting the lives lost to femicide, and to keep making sure no woman’s story is buried. Our top-most-read stories are not gossip; they are reports that named misogyny in its plain language, documented femicide as the national emergency. And most importantly, centred on women’s voices and rights. Because we document women’s voices, we are also documenting resistance and actively doing unapologetic feminist journalism.

- After Relationship Ends, Nigerian Man, Adedapo Adegbola, Murders Girlfriend

An identified 40-year-old Nigerian man, Adedapo Adegbola, has murdered and pleaded guilty to the murder of his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Irons, in the United Kingdom. The murder occurred on the evening of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, when Adegbola visited Stephs at her home in Mapperley, Nottinghamshire, UK. He fatally stabbed her following the end of their brief relationship. He pleaded guilty to the murder and was scheduled to be sentenced on February 5, 2026, when he faces a mandatory life sentence.
- Men in Ozoro, Delta, Gang-Rape, Assault Women in Public During Festival

On March 19, 2026, men in Ozoro, a community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, gangraped and assaulted women and girls on the streets and in their homes. This was done during the Uruamudhu Aluejo Festival, a seven-day cultural event in the community. Several online videos show men in large numbers actively hunting women on the streets and gangraping them. According to reports, female students of Southern Delta University of Science and Technology who were unaware of the tradition are among those being attacked.

Dr Michael Okechukwu, a Nigerian doctor employed at Wythenshawe Hospital in the United Kingdom, stands accused of grooming and attempting to meet a 13-year-old girl for sexual purposes. The online footage reveals the predatory methods he employed to manipulate the child while exposing the institutional failure that enabled him to access and exploit a minor in the first place. Throughout the interrogation, police officers confront Michael with explicit evidence of his communications with the girl.

A Nigerian man, Araromi Emmanuel, lured and raped Fems Thrift, a Lagos-based content creator and thrift vendor, alongside her friend. This incident occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State. After the sexual assault, Emmanuel seized their phones, forced them to unlock private folders and transferred intimate photos and videos to himself via AirDrop. He further threatened to publish the materials online if they reported the incident or spoke publicly about it.
- Ademola Oyewole, Reportedly Murdered Girlfriend, Habibatu, in Cold Blood

A Nigerian man, Ademola Michael Oyewole, has reportedly murdered his girlfriend, Habibatu Aruwa Favour, in cold blood at his residence in Edjeba Community, Warri South LGA of Delta State. This incident was confirmed by the state police on Wednesday, June 23, 2026. According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 23, when the landlord reportedly heard screams coming from the apartment and called security operatives. Additionally, friends of the deceased claimed that she had called them in panic, saying her boyfriend was harming her.
