The nominees for the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have been unveiled, celebrating excellence in African cinema and television. Hosted by MultiChoice Nigeria, the awards celebrate excellence in TV, film, entertainment, and digital content across Nollywood and Africa.

The 11th edition of the AMVCA is set to take place in Lagos, Nigeria with the ceremony broadcast live across all Africa Magic channels.

This year’s nominations spotlight the remarkable contributions of women in the industry, with female actors, filmmakers, and content creators leading in several categories. These talented women have delivered unforgettable performances, commanding the screen with depth, intensity, and brilliance, transforming fleeting moments into cinematic triumphs.

Among the highly anticipated categories, the Best Lead Actress nominees include some of Nollywood’s finest. Chioma Chukwuka earned a nomination for her role in Seven Doors. Gbubemi Ejeye is recognised for Farmer’s Bride, while Uzoamaka Onuoha secures a spot for Agemo. Uche Montana is nominated for Thin Line, Uzoamaka Aniunoh for Phoenix Fury, and Hilda Dokubo for Wives on Strike 3. Bimbo Ademoye also joins the list for her performance in Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.

The Best Supporting Actress category also features a stellar lineup. Meg Otanwa is nominated for her role in Inside Life. Tina Mba earns recognition for Suspicion, while Ireti Doyle is nominated for All’s Fair in Love. Ini Dima-Okojie receives a nod for Skeleton Coast, Mercy Aigbe for Farmer’s Bride, and Omoni Oboli for Wives on Strike 3. Darasimi Nadi rounds out the list with her performance in Aburo.

Beyond acting, women continue to shine in the digital space, with several female content creators earning nominations for Best Digital Content Creator. Taaooma, Chiamaka Uzokwe, Ariyiikedimples, and others are all recognised for their work in digital storytelling.

The strong presence of women in this year’s AMVCA nominations highlights the ever-growing impact of female talent in shaping African storytelling. With anticipation building ahead of the ceremony, the 2025 AMVCA is set to be a celebration of artistry, excellence, and the power of women in film and entertainment.
