Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has donated N100 million to support families affected by the recent tanker explosion at Dikko Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Gurara Local Council of Niger State.
The donation was made through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and will be distributed to approximately 70 families, with each receiving N1 million. The remaining funds will be used for food and other essential supplies.
The tragic incident occurred on January 18, 2025, along Maje Road in Gurara Local Government Area, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
Ms Oluremi announced the donation during a sympathy visit to Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago at the Government House in Minna on Monday.
Acknowledging the governor’s efforts in rehabilitating the victims’ families, Ms Oluremi stated that support would be provided to approximately 70 families through Her Excellency Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago, with each family receiving N1 million to aid their resettlement and cover essential expenses, including food.
She also prayed against future disasters and praised Governor Bago’s efforts in agriculture and infrastructure development across the state.
During her visit, Ms Oluremi met with former Military President General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar at their residences in Minna.
Governor Bago expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her motherly support and for standing with the people of Niger State during this difficult period.
