Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems recently bought a hand-crocheted portrait made in her honour by a young fan, Odum Ifeoluwa. The fan, a crocheter, had gone viral after posting the crochet artwork and a screenshot of the payment Tems made.
Tems responded to Odum’s tribute, asking if she could buy it. “Yo, this is unbelievable. You are incredible! I NEED IT RIGHT NOW. Can I buy it, please?”
Within a few hours, Odum Ifeoluwa tweeted, “This has to be the best day of my life.”
She shared a screenshot that showed Tems paid ₦3 million for the jand-crocheted portrait and expressed heartfelt thanks to the singer, fellow fan @yvonneonyanta, and the entire Rebel Gang community for their support.
The now-viral journey began on June 22 when Odum posted her crochet portrait of Tems to mark the one-year anniversary of her crocheting journey.
“After 8925 stitches and 70 hours, I finished this crochet portrait of Tems,” she wrote, adding that it was her first time attempting tapestry work.
