Summary

Tyla, Tems, and Ayra Starr came together in Lagos for a vibrant celebration at Obi’s House, marking a milestone in their extraordinary year of global success and highlighting the rising influence of women in the music industry.

Africa’s biggest stars, Tems, Ayra Starr and Tyla, were seen together at Obi’s House in Lagos, marking a rare and notable gathering of three of the Abrobeats’ most celebrated figures. The evening was memorable, with a viral clip showing the trio dancing together, sharing joy and unity.

The event came shortly after Tyla’s performance earlier in the day at the Flytime Fest, where she delivered an electrifying rendition of her hit single, “Jump,” alongside rapper Gunna. Tems, who recently concluded her highly successful “Born in the Wild Tour”, joined the festivities, making the occasion a highlight in Lagos’ vibrant music scene.

The gathering marked the peak of an extraordinary year for the three artists, who each achieved major milestones and boosted Afrobeats’ global impact.

In May, Ayra Starr released her album, The Year I Turned 21, which included notable collaborations with artists such as Giveon on, Asake, Coco Jones, and Anitta. The album solidified her reputation as a rising global star and showcased her artistic range.

Tems debuted her highly anticipated album, Born in the Wild, in June which showed her introspective songwriting and featured collaborations with J. Cole and Asake. The album also featured reimagined classics like Seyi Sodimu’s “Love Me JeJe.”

In October, Tyla released a deluxe version of her self-titled album, which included viral hits like “PUSH 2 START”, “BACK to YOU”, and “SHAKE AH”. Collaborations with Tony Duardo and Optimist Music ZA elevated her artistry, while her live debut of “PUSH 2 START” at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show further expanded her global audience.

As Afrobeat continues its upward trajectory, the influence of women artists like Tyla, Tems, and Ayra Starr is a powerful reminder of the industry’s increasing inclusivity and diversity. Their success not only paves the way for future generations of female musicians but also sets a standard for excellence and innovation within the genre.
