World record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, has withdrawn from the final of this year’s Diamond League in Zurich.
The season-ending meet began in the Swiss city on August 27 and concluded on August 28, 2025, with top athletes competing for $50,000 in prize money across disciplines.
Although no official reason was given for her withdrawal, it is believed she may be taking precautions ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo next month. At her last outing in Lausanne, she stumbled at the first hurdle and finished fifth in 12.82s.
Tobi, who qualified as the second-best hurdler this season with 27 points, has been replaced by Bahamian athlete Devynne Charlton.
The final field now features Charlton, reigning world champion Danielle Williams, her Jamaican compatriot Ackera Nugent, Dutch runner Nadine Visser, Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji and Selina von Jackowski, alongside American trio Tonea Marshall, Grace Stark, and Kendra Harrison.
The Nigerian star holds the meet record of 12.29s, set in September 2022 when she claimed her second Diamond League title. She also won back-to-back titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Her absence now clears the path for a highly competitive final, with former world record holder Harrison, rising star Nugent, and others set to light up the Zurich track.
