Summary: Gospel singer Victoria Orenze has publicly expressed disappointment at ministers and church leaders who defend the Nigerian government amid the country’s worsening insecurity crisis.
Victoria Orenze, a Nigerian gospel singer and worship leader, took to her Instagram on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, to say that the Nigerian government, politicians, and leaders had failed Nigerians.
Her statement was made in response to comments made by gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori.
On Monday, June 1, 2026, during an Instagram Live session, Yinka defended President Tinubu and the country’s armed forces, insisting they should not be accused of doing nothing about Nigeria’s insecurity crisis.
She argued that a spiritual darkness was covering the eyes of security operatives in the forest, rendering them unable to see terrorists, and called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the abducted Oyo schoolchildren.
“You cannot say that the president and vice president are not doing what they are supposed to do. They are working,” she stated. The remarks drew immediate backlash across social media.
Reacting, Victoria Orenze expressed disappointment at what she described as stomach Christianity among some church leaders and believers who she said speak on behalf of God while benefiting from political connections.
“Honestly, I am disappointed in some ministers, churchgoers, who just use the name of the Lord for profit. Those who don’t hear God but yet want to speak on His behalf,” she stated.
“Whenever a few are benefitting from a government, they say the government is working, because they don’t care about the good of the majority of Nigerians, they only care about their pockets and stomach,” she stated, adding that anyone who claims to know God but supports evil and wickedness does not know God at all.
