Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi, APC House of Representatives aspirant for the Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency in Ondo State, has stated that women and young people turned out in significant numbers at the recently concluded APC primary in her constituency. She described the turnout as a signal of growing public hunger for a different kind of political representation.

House of Representatives aspirant made the statement via her X handle following the APC House of Representatives primary held in Ondo State in May 2026.

“The crowd was never the story. The story was who made up the crowd: women, youths, ordinary party members,” she stated.

“From the ward level to the local government level, and across the senatorial district, there was a growing call for inclusion and change. Because when people feel seen, heard, and valued, they don’t sit on the sidelines — they show up,” she stated.

In the video statement shared on June 3, 2026, Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi attributed the turnout to the nature of her candidacy, stating that presenting a younger, non-traditional political profile drew a different kind of crowd — one mobilised from the ward to the senatorial level by youth leaders who saw in her a candidate that looked and felt different from the political establishment.

The 2027 general elections are expected to be held on Jan 17, 2027, to elect the president and vice president, members of the Senate and House of Representatives, while voting for state governors, and members of the House of Assembly will be held on February 6, 2027.
