The official launch of Àkàso: Same but Different – 65 Feminist Voices Across Generations was held on April 23, 2026, in Abuja. The publication is a collaborative effort by Baobab for Women’s Human Rights, BraveHeart Initiative for Youth & Women, Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Empowerment Foundation (ICCEF) and Project Alert on Violence Against Women. The publication also represents ICCEF’s first official release.

The anthology grew out of ICCEF’s Intergenerational Dialogue on feminism and women’s rights held in 2025, which brought Nigerian feminists from different generations together to reflect, share experiences and connect.

Àkàso brings together the stories of 65 women across generations, capturing their lived experiences, personal journeys, and contributions to the feminist movement. The publication goes beyond storytelling, serving as an archive of identity, courage, and resistance, highlighting the moments that have shaped feminist advocacy in Nigeria.

“With this publication, these stories are not left to memory alone. They are documented, honoured, and passed on,” the organisers said.

The launch event highlighted themes of identity, memory and solidarity, showing that every generation has a role to play in advancing women’s rights. Attendees reflected on the significance of documenting feminist histories in the voices of those who lived them, creating a resource for future generations.

The event also featured the unveiling of the Feminist Intergenerational Solidarity Project (FISP) three-year roadmap, alongside moments of engagement between mentors and mentees, further strengthening the bridge between past and present feminist work.
