  1. Oyo School Principal Cries Out After Gunmen Abduct Teachers, Students

A woman identified as Ms Alamu, who introduced herself as the principal of Community High School, Esinele, has cried out for help after she and several staff members and students were reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen in Oyo State. In a viral video circulating on social media on May 17, 2026, the principal said the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on May 15, 2026, in the Ahoro-Esinele community of Oriire Local Government Area.

  1. Super Falcons’ Defender, Shukurat Oladipo, Clichés Best Defender Award 

Shukurat Damilola Oladipo, a versatile defender of Super Falcons and the AS Roma Women’s team, has officially been named the Best Defender of the season in the Italian Serie A Femminile for the 2025/26 campaign. The 21-year-old star received the prestigious award at a gala ceremony held on Monday, May 18, 2026.

  1. Barakat Odunuga Defeats Desmond Elliot in Lagos APC Assembly Primary

Hon. Barakat Odunuga Bakare emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress primary election for Surulere Constituency I of the Lagos State House of Assembly, defeating incumbent lawmaker Desmond Elliot by a wide margin. According to the announced results, Barakat secured 11,385 votes, while Desmond polled 270 votes in the keenly contested primary held at Alaka Housing Estate, Ward G2, Surulere.

  1. “Lagos Receives Over 450 Domestic Violence Reports Monthly” —DSVA

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency receives between 400 and 450 new domestic violence complaints every month, according to Executive Secretary Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi. She said the figures likely represent only a small fraction of actual cases due to widespread underreporting. 

  1. Nigeria’s Youngest Lawmaker, Rukayat Shittu, Wins Kwara APC Primary for Second Term

Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu, a 29-year-old journalist and lawmaker representing Owode/Onire Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, has won the APC re-election primary for the seat. She defeated her only challenger, Sulyman Ayegun, to secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 general elections.
