Following a video of Austa’s murderer “Killaboi” living luxuriously in Qatar posted on X (formerly Twitter), Nigerians have come out to react in outrage as he lives with no consequences after taking someone’s life.
Following a reportedly recent video taken of Benjamin “Killaboi” Best living luxuriously in Qatar posted on X(formerly Twitter) on Jan. 9, 2024, Nigerians have reacted in serious outrage at how the wanted murderer is on the loose and living a luxurious life.
Benjamin Best, popularly known as Killaboi, was declared wanted in Oct. 2023 after he confessed to killing his girlfriend at the time Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion, known as Austa on his social media pages.
According to reports, Austa’s mother found her dead in his apartment in Lagos. An autopsy confirmed that she had been reportedly stabbed, and her female genital parts were missing. Killaboi reportedly fled the country to Sierra Leone where Austa’s brother known as Heze chased him down and handed him to the authorities. However, with recent videos, it has been reported that Killaboi is very much free and living his best life.
“He killed her. He confessed for days. He absconded and bought a new name. We trended hashtags for months. Her mother posted it everyday. Her brother left the country to go and catch him. He was handed over to the authorities and now, he’s back out; same as Idowu and many victims’ killers,” @thetems_quoted.
“I don’t know how men on this app see things like this and when we raise alarm, they’ll say we’re forcing an agenda. Forcing agenda when women are being killed everyday and their murderers are still out at large?? Days ago it was Christianah, today it’s Austa.” – @imanie
@candigirlll also said “Since Nigeria is a lawless country. There must be a way to inform the authorities that there is a wanted criminal and a murderer in Qatar.”
Annually, men kill thousands of women they know. In 2023, approximately 51,100 women and girls were killed by their intimate partners or other family members. There is a serious need for the government, lawmakers and law enforcement agencies to take femicide seriously and put in greater measures to punish men that abuse and kill women.
