Summary: Dr Nonye Soludo, Anambra State’s First Lady, rescued and rehabilitated a teenage boy, Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka from domestic abuse, now the boy is set to begin his tertiary education. She also pledged a promise to sponsor the teenager’s education to whatever level he wishes.

Dr Nonye Soludo, Anambra State’s First Lady, rescued and rehabilitated a teenage boy,  Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka from domestic abuse, now the boy is set to begin his tertiary education. She disclosed this information on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Chimkamnayo is a teenage boy who was rescued from severe abuse by his uncle and the man’s wife in 2022 through the intervention of Ms Nonye Soludo. After his rescue, the boy was placed under her care, receiving medical treatment, educational support, guidance, and full access to rehabilitation.

“Four years ago, precisely in July 2022, Chimkamnayo’s story broke the hearts of many Anambra people. Rescued from a life of severe abuse and neglect by his uncle and wife, he arrived with wounds that went far beyond the physical,” she said.

In her address, the First Lady described Chimkamnayo’s journey as a reminder that abuse does not determine a child’s destiny; instead, people should see beyond the pain to shape a brighter future.

“What once seemed like a story defined by pain has become a powerful testimony of healing, hope, and transformation. Today, he is preparing to enter the university, and I am delighted to reaffirm my commitment to supporting his education to whatever level he chooses to attain.”

While Ms Soludo promised Chimkamnayo that he would be reunited with his family, she maintained that he would continue to be closely monitored and remain under the care, protection and support of the Anambra State Government.

“His journey reminds us that when society refuses to give up on a child, that child can rise above adversity and become a symbol of hope for others. Chimkamnayo’s story is not just about survival; it is about triumph. And for every child facing hardship today, may it serve as a reminder that your circumstances do not determine your future,” she added.
