Summary: The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has begun a probe into the viral bread review post that led to the arrest and suit of Love Dooshima, a Nigerian businesswoman. This was made known by the agency’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has begun a probe into the viral bread review post that led to the arrest and suit of Love Dooshima, a Nigerian businesswoman. This was disclosed by the agency’s  Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.

Recall that Love Dooshima posted a viral video review titled “Your Bread Could Be Poisoning You” on April 13, 2026. In the clip, she observed that an unidentified loaf of bread had remained fresh on her shelf for two months without moulding.

Her post went viral, raising public concern about the product’s quality and the preservatives used in its production. Subsequently, she was served with a N50 million lawsuit by Bon Bread, which claimed the product was theirs and alleged that the video’s claims had led to reputational damage, financial loss, and Dooshima’s refusal to retract her claims.

In addition, the company lodged a complaint with the police, leading to her being questioned on charges of cyberstalking, fraud, and mischief. The Nigerian businesswoman was later released after the direct intervention of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, and human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.

During the interview, Ondaje confirmed the awareness of the situation and assured the public of a swift, unbiased investigation. He also stressed consumers’ legal right to share their experiences and seek redress.

“People could exercise their right to that extent, but in the particular case on the bread issue, let me tell you, those kinds of things raised certain red flags with us and as soon as we got wind of it, our surveillance and investigation department and even our legal services were up to ensure that certain things happened. The law ensures that consumers are provided with information and guarantees their right to be heard. If a consumer suffers anything, definitely the consumer has a right to make certain representations,” he said.

The FCCPC’s director noted that the agency is in collaboration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to seize the bread sample referenced by the entrepreneur and analyse it for consumption.
