The lack of closure allowed her to resume her career a decade later, fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing professional football and representing Nigeria on the international stage.

“I’m forever grateful to the beautiful game and all it’s given me, so here’s to continuing to find ways to give right back. Thank you all for the love and support along the way,” she added.

Yewande Balogun participated in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, held in Australia and New Zealand, where she made one appearance for the nine-time African champions. Her career included international representation and professional engagements in different countries, underscoring her versatility and dedication to the sport.

As she concludes her playing career, Yewande’s contributions to Nigerian football serve as an example of perseverance and determination. Her journey will likely continue to inspire aspiring footballers, both within Nigeria and globally.
